For Our Service to the Media

For Our Mailing to All the Media:

"Thanks to a press release you sent out to TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, and even the Internet media and bloggers, my book In the Land of Difficult People: 24 Timeless Tales Reveal How to Tame Beasts at Work received a very enthusiastic response.   Within a few days, we received about 30 requests for more information and copies of the book, plus several radio interviews have already been scheduled.   A cable TV show with over 7 million viewers wants to include me on a panel, a Fox TV affiliate in San Diego wants to do a program with me, and a New Jersey station wants to do a tie-in with an article to appear in the local paper.  All in all, a great response.  I couldn't be more pleased, and it was a bargain, compared to the cost of hiring a publicist which would have been 3 or 4 times as much, and might not have been as effective."

"As someone’s mother once said, “It ain’t braggin’ if you can do it!”  My publisher like most is focused on the front-list books and was happy to let OH, LORD, I SOUND JUST LIKE MAMA sell year after year in the gift market, a tortoise of a best-seller (with 223,004 copies so far).  My co-author and I wrote six other books but knew there’s still a huge untouched market for a  book about funny advice and anecdotes women remember from their mothers and grandmothers, but most of our PR suggestions went unheeded.

"This year, on MAMA’s 20th anniversary, I decided to act on my own and only wish I had known you sooner.  Your service has generated an embarrassment of riches!  A stream of e-mail responses to my press release about a NY promo trip turned the 20th anniversary into an advantage rather than a negative.  I’ve booked six definite radio interviews; an in-person radio show in NYC, a market MAMA has never been in before; have several others pending, and made it through the first screening at Good Morning America, a feat in itself.  It proves the power of the subject line in the press release, which I thank you hugely for getting just right.  There’s a reason you are the expert!

"I’ve already recommended you to three writer friends, plus one small business owner who could benefit from your wire service for articles.  There are so many more applications for your services than just for writers.  I plan to  follow this up in the fall with a related article for your wire service, and possibly do something with my other two books still in print.

For Our Mailing to Radio and TV Talk Shows:

"Being first time authors we tried repeatedly to get published on our own but were rejected by every publisher we applied to.  However, after reading an article about Gini's service in the Wall Street Journal, we gave it a try and hit a home run. After the query went out, we had 16 publishers asking to review our material, including all major business book publishers.  After many conversations, we landed with John Wiley & Sons and the book hit the #1 Sales Management Book and the #1 Customer Service Book in the country as rated by Amazon.com.  After that we tried Gini's PR service and now we are appearing on numerous regional and national radio programs.  We would recommend this service to anyone."

"When we mailed out my demo song press release to radio people around the world, I quickly received emails from producers and programmers expressing real interest, even the BBC in London came calling! Plus I got interest from NPR in Washington, D.C. and my story got picked up by Flash News.  This kind of media exposure is priceless."

""I couldn't be more delighted.  As a result of your mailing, I had over a dozen radio shows and a couple of local TV shows calling to set up interviews for the book I was pitching for my client.   And thanks for your suggestions on making my release even better, too."

"YOU are great!...Besides pitching my song to record companies, I also sent out pitches to the media, and wow -- stories on the BBC, NPR (National Public Radio), and FLASH NEWS...Still a long way to go to a record deal, but first baby steps begin here...See you at the Grammies!"
          Jerry Patton

"The radio mailing was GREAT  Some of your contacts had already interviewed me on my last book -- when my publisher paid a publicist several THOUSAND dollars to contact the same people you contacted for a fraction of the fee -- and with the SAME RESULTS!...YOU GO GINI!...You made me what I am today!"

"We used www.publishersandagents.net to help start my publishing company while I'm a flight attendant and sell my book Mary McCowski was not a Pretty Girl.  They have a new service that sends out Press Releases to editors of newspapers and such.) And HEEEEELLLLLOOOOOO we were swamped with results. I've got requests to do interviews from big magazines, and little magazines, and New York Talk shows, and TV shows in Denver and SFO and ...it's just me.(TO READ THE REST OF THE BLOG, JUST GO TO HER BLOGSPOT OR CLICK HERE).

For Our Service to Speaking Bureaus and
Meeting Planners

From a Writer and Speaker:

"I had a very good response rate from my mailing to meeting planners and speaker bureaus, and a few of the contacts have led to subsequent communications back and forth.  I am in the process of setting up a national speaking tour now."
      Dana Browne
      St. Paul, Minnesota

From a Business Consultant:

"I've been thinking of expanding income by speaking about my business, but wasn't sure how to do it.  With your help, I've made some important connections and am well on my way to launching a part-time speaking career.  I got interest from about 30 speaker bureaus and meeting planners."
       Jackson Williamson
       Chicago, Illinois

From an Agent:

"This is an excellent way for authors and others to launch a speaking career.  I know that a number of author's I represent as an agent will be interested, since this service will save them many hours of research to find the names of speaker bureaus to contact, and it will be helpful for them to know the kind of letter to write to start the dialogue with a speakers bureau or meeting planner about using them as a speaker."

And here are some sample quotes from our PublishersAndAgents Web site.

Clients:

"Your e-mail query service was great.  I’m so excited by the quick response I got from about 50 editors at major publishers, most in New York.  About a dozen wanted to see my manuscript, one that weekend, and many others wrote back to tell me they thought my story should be told, though it wasn’t quite right for their list and they referred me to other editors.  I decided to do an e-query mailing to provide leads for my agent, who wasn’t able to get any interest after a year.  I used a brief query letter to tell my story about how my daughter got murdered by her ex-husband who is now in jail.  I also described how I have been seeking Congressional support for a bill to protect children from violent spouses who serious injure or kill their partners.  Now I have several major publishers considering my story and I feel very confident it will be published by one of them next year."
       Kate Weaver
Author of A Law for My Daughter

"Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you!  Though we have an agent, he hasn't been able to sell our book for the past year.  So we though we'd supplement his efforts with a mailing, and the results were fantastic.  Our query went to about 125 editors, and within 2 days, 7 of them wanted to see the manuscript.   And these were editors from major companies, such as Harper Collins, Random House, Penguin Putnam, Bantam, and Simon and Schuster.  Since then our agent has sent off our proposal to these editors, and we feel quite confident that now we will sell our book."
        Ana Zaharia and Jim O'Reilly
        Saskatchewan, Canada

"I got 60 acceptances to your query!  I just sent out the first proposal to one agent.  If she doesn't take my book, I should be able to find an agent among the other 59."

"I'm already getting request to see my novel. Within hours of sending the query letters, I received 6 requests for the complete manuscript and 13 requests for the first 3 chapters from agents. These statistics are nothing short of amazing for a previously unpublished fiction writer. Thank you for your fantastic work!"
         Victoria Korson

"I was delighted by the quick response I got from both agents and editors. In two days, I got requests from 11 agents and 4 publishers to send my proposal about my true life experience, and I was delighted that this included some major East Coast publishers and agents."
         Tony Capria
         Pulaski, New York

Writers:

“This is a great idea, one that lets a writer concentrate on writing and helps automate the time-consuming process of submitting.  It's based on good experience, too.  Gini Graham Scott is a professional, a fellow member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors, and a widely published author, who understands how to position and sell articles and books.”

Agents:

“This looks like a great idea to help other writers. We've truly appreciated the opportunity to have been introduced to the work of Gini Graham Scott. She's now a valued client, and we're representing her work to publishers and producers."

Editors:

“This service is a great and timely idea to help busy writers quickly pitch their book to busy editors who are now on email. It's a good way for writers without agents to break through with a short but compelling pitch. I've also known one of the partners, Gini Graham Scott, for over 10 years, since Prentice-Hall has successfully published three of her books.”
